Description: Important August 27, 1894 Boston Beaneaters Charley Bennett Tribute game program with related material. Original program (7.5"x10") issued for game played at the South End Grounds which was "Boston's Tribute to The King of Catchers Charles W. Bennett." Unscored with pre-printed lineups including Kid Nichols, Tommy McCarthy, and "Corbett" who is listed as leadoff. This was in fact then Heavyweight Boxing Champions Gentleman Jim Corbett who played first base to show his support. Program has split at binding and has tape stains visible on both covers (several articles/copy stapled/affixed to insides) and other general wear to include chipping, some small tears, several pencil notations, and vertical crease. Includes (2) cabinet mounted photographs with one being of Charley Bennett (his name written on front in ink in Kid Nichols' distinctive print) and the other of his wife; and handwritten account of the game's participants, score, and gate receipts as prepared by a Nichols family members based upon his recollections: Program PR/GD, Others VG/EX-EX/MT
