Description: 1993 Curt Schilling autographed Philadelphia Phillies professional model World Series home jersey. After coming up in the Boston Red Sox farm system, Curt Schilling made his way through Baltimore and then Houston before settling into the Phillies rotation at the start of the 1992 season. In 1993 he won (16) games leading the Fightins' to the post season and eventually an upset of the heavily favored Atlanta Braves for the Phils first National League Championship since 1980. His performance in the NLCS earned MVP honors. He pitched in (2) World Series games; the first a Game 1 loss in Toronto, the second, a redeeming performance, was the brilliantly executed Game 5 at home in Veterans Stadium. With the Phillies facing elimination he threw a 2-0 shutout to keep the Series alive. In a related note, the game also carries the distinction of being the last post-season game ever played at the Vet. Home pinstriped jersey has "Phillies" team name lettered across the front in logo font and player name/number "Schilling 38" on back. Number also appears on left sleeve and right sleeve has "1993 World Series" patch. Russell Athletic manufacturer's tag on front tail with the size, "48." Remnants of additional tag(s) which have been trimmed off are visible. Signed on back "Curt Schilling 1993 W.S. Game Used", "Last post season game at the Vet" in blue marker rating 8 out of 10. Evident usage and wash wear throughout. The jersey was proudly displayed within the Schilling home for many years and as a result there are a series of minute scattered pinholes from mounting; these are mentioned for the sake of accuracy and are only visible upon close examination. Highly desirable World Series jersey with direct chain of first hand provenance to one of the premier big game pitchers of our time.
