Description: Curt Flood's 1963 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Presented to Flood for his defensive work in the 1963 season, the trophy features a wood base with applied brass placard that reads "of Curt Flood 1963 The Sporting News National League All-Star Fielding Team". A figural metal baseball finished in gold sits atop the base bearing the year "1963" as does a Rawlings gold painted glove supported by a metal prong. A diamond shaped wooden piece at back features a brass baseball diamond with titling "Rawlings Gold Glove Award". Award remains fairly clean overall with some pitting to the metal surface of the ball. The offered award was the first of seven consecutive Gold Glove Awards earned by the Cardinals centerfielder. Flood was not only the premier defensive centerfielder of his generation, he is regarded as one of the greatest of all-time at his position.
