Description: Rare c.1950s Larry Doby professional model baseball bat. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with "Doby" block lettered into the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 34oz. Model number "G80" has been factory stamped in the knob. Strong usage wear is concentrated on the upper hitting surface which is covered in ball and contact marks. A pioneer player having become the first African American in the American League, Doby excelled on the field earning (7) All-Star selections and helping the Indians to a pair of pennants and a World Series Championship. Exceptional display value with bold and well defined stampings. Only the second Doby bat we have auctioned in over (20) years.
