Description: Scarce Ross Young(s) professional model baseball bat c. 1911-16. Early J.F. Hillerich & Son Co. Louisville Slugger double dash-dot-dash model bat measures 34 3/4" long and weighs 39oz. Hand turned bat has vault marked Y7 model number stamped on both knob and barrel ends. Surface remains in fine original condition with strong usage wear incl. handle crack, deadwood area on reverse of barrel repaired with finish nails, and factory side writing "Old Ross Young(s)" in grease pencil. Youngs played his entire (11) year career with the New York Giants during their dominance of the National League in the early 1920's. He batted over .300 in all but one season and ended with a lifetime average of .322 with 1,491 hits. Ross Youngs had suffered from a kidney ailment and passed away in 1927 at the age of 30. Exceedingly rare HOF'er game model bat with only one other example know to exist having unimproveable provenance from the H&B archives.
