Description: Babe Ruth professional model baseball bat with barnstorming provenance c.1920s. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 33 3/4" long and weighs 41oz. The bat exhibits evident use including ball marks, cleat marks, and stitching impressions. Early "George Babe Ruth" facsimile stamping is found on the barrel end. A portion of the barrel has been shortened (likely 2" or so) and subsequently filled with a small bit of lead in the period. "BABE" is stamped/carved on the knob end in individually fashioned period lettering. The provenance traces the bat to a barnstorming contest in California back in the 1920s.
